ResearchH2O is built on scientific transparency, and that includes how we handle information. This policy explains what we collect when you visit researchh2o.com, open an account or place an order, why we collect it, who else receives it, and what you can ask of us.
"ResearchH2O", "we", "us" and "our" mean Dragon Labs LLC, the company that runs researchh2o.com and lab1x.com and owns the LAB1® trademark. Both websites use one ordering system and one customer care team.
What we collect
Orders
You can check out as a guest or with an account. Either way, we record:
your name, email address and phone number, and your company name if you give one;
your shipping address;
the products, quantities, shipping method, any coupon code and any note you add;
how you choose to pay and, so we can match your payment to your order, your Cash App $Cashtag or, if you give it, the email address or phone number your Zelle payment comes from;
the time you confirmed that the products are for laboratory research use only.
A guest's details are kept as a customer record without a password. If you open an account later, your order history is already there.
Accounts
We record your name, company, email address and phone number, and the password you choose. The password is stored only in hashed (scrambled) form, so no one here can read it. We also record your acceptance of our research-use terms, with the date and the version of those terms.
An account on researchh2o.com is separate from any account on lab1x.com, even if both use the same email address.
Carts left at checkout
After you enter your email address at checkout (or when you are signed in), we save the products and quantities in your cart together with that address, so we can remind you if the order is not completed. No address or payment details are saved for this.
Messages and quote requests
When you use our contact form or bulk quote form, we record what you enter. This can include your name, company, email address, phone number and your message.
Payments
We never receive your full card number or bank account number.
Card or digital wallet: you complete the payment on our payment processor's secure checkout page. The processor receives your payment details and, to prevent fraud, information about your device and how you use its page, and handles them under its own privacy policy. We receive confirmation of your payment.
Cash App and Zelle: you send the payment from your own app. We receive the payment notice, which shows the name or account the payment came from, the amount and the note, and we match it to your order, automatically where possible.
Technical data
Our web servers and our hosting and security providers record standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, the pages requested and your browser type. We may also record the IP address used when you place an order, open an account or send a form. We use this information to operate the website and protect it from fraud and abuse, and keep it only as long as those purposes require.
How we use it
To process, pack, ship and track your orders, and to answer questions about them.
To email you about your orders and account. For example: order received, confirmed, updated or cancelled; payment received; order shipped, with tracking; refunds and credits; return requests; welcome and password reset.
To remind you about an unpaid order. We send reminders about 12, 24 and 36 hours after the order was placed. If payment has not arrived 48 hours after the order was placed, the order is cancelled automatically.
To remind you about a cart left at checkout: at most two emails, about 1 hour and about 24 hours after the cart last changed. Each email has an unsubscribe link.
To send occasional marketing and follow-up emails, for example about our products, bulk pricing, or an order or quote you asked about. Each one tells you how to stop them, with an unsubscribe link or by replying STOP, and we then stop.
To answer messages and quote requests.
To measure whether our advertising leads to orders, as described under "Cookies, tags and browser storage".
To keep a record that each purchase was made for laboratory research use only.
To protect our customers and the website, for example by limiting how many requests one visitor can make.
To keep the business records we are required to keep.
We do not sell or rent personal information, we do not use it to show you personalized ads, and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing.
Who receives it
Only the service providers that help us run the store receive personal information, and each receives only what its task needs:
Payment: our payment processor, for card and digital wallet payments, and a service that reads Cash App and Zelle payment notices so they can be matched to orders. Cash App and Zelle handle the payments you send under their own terms.
Shipping: the software we use to manage orders and print shipping labels, and the carrier that delivers your package.
Email: the service that delivers the emails our ordering system sends.
Hosting and security: the companies whose servers run researchh2o.com and our ordering system, and protect them from attacks. Our servers are in the United States.
Advertising: our advertising service, which receives the conversion information described under "Cookies, tags and browser storage".
Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our customers or others from fraud or harm.
If the business is sold or merged, customer records may pass to the new owner. The new owner must then follow this policy.
Cookies, tags and browser storage
researchh2o.com sets one cookie of its own:
rh_portal: set when you sign in or open an account, so that you stay signed in. It expires after 12 hours or when you sign out. Your account needs it to work, and it is not used for tracking.
Your cart, wishlist and product comparison are kept in your own browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and remain on your device until you clear them. We only receive the cart when you go to checkout, as described above.
Our hosting and security providers may set cookies that are strictly needed to protect the website, for example to tell visitors from automated attacks. They are not used for tracking or advertising.
Advertising conversion tracking. We use a conversion tag from our advertising service to learn whether our advertising leads to orders. When you add a product to your cart, begin checkout or place an order, the tag reports that event to the advertising service. For an order, it also sends the order number, the order total and its currency. It sends the address of the page you are on, with private links such as an order's or a password reset's removed, but not your name, email address or other contact details. The tag and the advertising service may set cookies in your browser, on our website and on the advertising service's own domains, that record that you reached us from one of our ads, so that a later order can be counted. We have set the tag so that this information is not used for personalized advertising.
To opt out of conversion tracking, block or delete these cookies in your browser's settings, block third-party cookies, or use a browser extension that blocks trackers. Ordering works the same without them.
We use no analytics or social media cookies or tags.
Our payment processor's checkout page, Cash App, Zelle and any other website we link to, such as lab1x.com, have their own cookie and privacy policies.
How long we keep it
Order records, with the invoices and payments that belong to them, are kept for 7 years, for accounting, tax and legal purposes.
Accounts are kept until you ask us to close yours. When we close an account, we keep the order records we must keep for 7 years.
A cart saved for reminder emails is deleted after 90 days without activity. If you unsubscribed from cart reminders, we keep your email address with that request, so we do not email you about that cart again.
Password reset links expire after 60 minutes.
We back up our systems every day and keep fewer copies as they get older. Every copy of a backup is deleted within about two and a half years. Information deleted from our systems can remain in a backup until that backup is deleted.
Your choices
Your account: update your name, phone number, password and saved addresses in My account. To change the email address on your account, contact us.
Closing your account: email info@lab1x.com and we will close it. Order records that we are required to keep are kept.
Emails: use the unsubscribe link in a cart reminder or marketing email, or reply STOP to a follow-up email. Emails about your orders and account, such as order confirmations and payment reminders, are part of the service.
Cookies: see "Cookies, tags and browser storage" above.
No account needed: you can check out as a guest.
Access, correction and deletion: you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email info@lab1x.com or call 833-233-5221. We check that the request comes from you, and we aim to answer within 30 days. Order and payment records that we are required to keep may be kept.
Security
researchh2o.com uses secure (https) connections. Passwords are stored only in hashed form, and payment details go directly to the payment processor. Customer records are kept in our ordering system, which only our signed-in staff can open. No system is perfectly secure, so please choose a strong password and do not share it.
Minimum age
researchh2o.com is for professionals buying for laboratory research. You must be at least 21 years old to open an account or place an order, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
